How To Speedup Defrag Operation In Windows XP

A well known way to speed up a defrag operation in Windows XP is restart the system before you launch the Defrag application. After restarting windows operating system it clears out the paging file and to reset it to the default. This lets defrag is only applied on the necessary data on the hard disk, without having to manage a huge swap data.

Apart from this traditional method, another method to speeding up a defrag operation with simple registry edit, so that defrag operation occur immediately upon startup.

Note: Before go for editing registry, backup your windows registry so that we can minimize the risk.

  • Go to Start menu Click on Run  type regedit.exe hit enter to launch registry editor
  • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
  • Click on RunOnce subkey and select New | String Value.

  • Then name the new value #1 to Defrag and Hit [Enter] twice.
  • Type Defrag.exe c: /f in the Value Data text box and click OK.

  • Close the Registry Editor and restart Windows.      

The defrag operation will begin during system startup. (Keep in mind that values added to the RunOnce key is to be removed immediately after the command has been run.)

How to Remove Windows Unnecessary Startup Task With Autoruns

Tips to Create Windows 7 Univarsal Disk-Remove Versions

Generally in Windows XP there are several editions in market like home edition,student edition,professional edition etc.Some time installation is frustrating for users due to different version of installation disc.Microsoft fixed this issue in windows vista by offering single disc to all versions of vista operating system.

But in Windows 7 Microsoft again revert back old system i.e different discs to different versions of windows like home,business,Ultimate.So we can overcome this issue by editing or removing ei.cfg file.
After removing ei.cfg file we can able to seen list of all versions of windows7 during installation in a single disk,(just like windows vista),So we can directly select and install which verison of windows is we need at present.
To edit ei.cfg file there is special tool,by which we can easily edit or remove ei.cfg file and repack the iso image.Now you can burn this Windows 7 Universal iso image to disk,to proceed.
